Well, friends, here we are at the start of another week! I don’t know about you, but I’m thrilled to be here. 🙂

I’ve got to be honest: Last week was not an A++ week of training. The spirit was willing, but the schedule was full, and as a result I sacrificed two bike rides and one swim (plus strength at Row House) to the cause. But since part of that full schedule came with a trip to New York City, I really can’t complain! And I’ll be back at it this week.

Speaking of this week, here’s what we’ve got on the docket:

Monday: We start the week off with a 55-minute swim workout – Threshold 125s, to be exact. Though I missed last Friday’s workout, I must say I am really enjoying being back in the pool again! Amazing how much fitness you can gain if you actually do the workouts! 😉 Then later on Monday I’ll do a Strength workout at Row House. No time like the present to get back into it.

Tuesday: Tuesday brings with it an hourlong easy ride, which I’ll probably do with my dad on Zwift, and then a 45-minute easy run after work. Easy peasy!

Wednesday: Two weeks out from Nashville, I’m finally back to some proper midweek speedwork! I’ve got 45-minute threshold repeats on the docket, which I’ll probably do on the treadmill at the Y.

Thursday: The schedule calls for an hourlong threshold interval bike workout, but I’ll do this outside with the bike club (weather permitting), which will adhere to the spirit if not the letter of the law. Plus, it comes with dinner afterward, which I think we can all agree is paramount.

Friday: It’s a busy start to the weekend with a 55-minute Best Average 75s swim workout first thing, followed by a Restore workout at Row House midday. But I’ll be nice and restored in time for the weekend, at least! 🙂

Saturday: I’ve got a 1:15 threshold and hold long ride scheduled for Saturday (followed by a 20-minute brick run), but in all honesty I’ll probably ride with the club again (again, spirit > letter). Not sure how I’ll work the brick run in, but I’ll give it my best. I DO wish the post-ride lunch wasn’t at a barbecue place, but I’m sure there’s something on the menu I can find to eat. Maybe I’ll stash a PBJ in my car … just in case.

Sunday: On Sunday, I toe the start line at one of my favorite races of the year – the Poplar Springs Run for the Animals 5K! This benefits the aforementioned Poplar Springs Animal Sanctuary and is SUCH a fun (and challenging) race. I’ll be racing it with Team VSDC (the Veg Society of DC), and I’m looking so forward to seeing some of my far-flung friends who live all around the DC metro area. Wish me luck!

And speaking of wishes: I wish you a wonderful week of training and life! What do you have going this week? Let us know in the comments!
