As I write this on Sunday night, I am winging my way back to Northern Virginia en route from Nashville, where I enjoyed a most challenging – and fun! – Rock n Roll Nashville Half-Marathon on Saturday morning. I’ll be giving a proper recap this week (spoiler alert: I really enjoyed the race and would totally do it again!), but for now, let us focus on the week ahead.
But first, I suppose, a revisiting of the week that was. It ended in fine form with the aforementioned race, but before that it was Taper Town USA and I feel like I did my level best to prep for the festivities. I missed a couple of workouts late in the week due to travel, but that’s OK. I got plenty and I mean PLENTY of walking in on Thursday, and even some on Friday, and thus feel like my blood had circulated properly and the muscles had warmed up.
So now that the race is over, it’s time for a bit of recovery. Here’s what I’ve got on the training docket this week.
Monday: Now, I’ve got to be honest: TriDot has a 45-minute recovery swim on the calendar for tomorrow, but I may just sleep in. It’s 5:57 p.m. CDT on Sunday night as I type this and we are due back in around 8 p.m. EDT, and I do feel the best thing I can do for my body tomorrow is to rest and sleep in. So let’s just consider it a zero day to start the week, shall we?
Tuesday: Tuesday brings with it an hourlong recovery bike. Depending on how I feel, I may do a light ride with my bike club, but if I still feel sore and dilapidated I may just do a very easy spin at home instead (which frankly is the wiser choice if I’m being honest). Film at 11. 😉
Wednesday: A 45-minute recovery run is listed for Wednesday, which I’ll probably do at the gym on the treadmill to give the leggies a break. (Plus, I am behind on my podcasts!)
Thursday: An hourlong easy ride is on the schedule for Thursday, which I’ll do on the trainer with my dad on Zwift.
Friday: A 50-minute smooth swim caps off the week! I’ll probably make this one. 😉 Then later in the day I’m slotted to do a Restore workout at Row House, which I have sorely missed the past couple of weeks!
Saturday: I’ve got a 1:15 recovery ride on the docket, which I’ll probably do in a very relaxed fashion with the bike club.
Sunday: A 50-minute recovery run ties up my week in a pretty bow! I can’t wait till my long runs are much longer again, I must say!
Have a great week, friends! Did anybody race this weekend? Let’s chat in the comments!
