Scene from Sunday’s run: A rare cruise ship, docked along Alexandria’s waterfront.

Is it me, or are the weeks moving faster and faster? Before I know it, it’s Tuesday, I’ve knocked out several workouts, and I’ve yet to write Word One about the upcoming week – even though I am already IN the upcoming week!

Well, before I talk about what I’ve already been up to and where things are going, a look back at last week.

Things went really well, actually! I only missed one bike (due to work commitments) and one row (also due to work commitments, now that I think of it). I was feeling just as pleased as punch about myself as I came into my Sunday long run, and indeed the run itself started off just beautifully – it was one of those workouts where I felt like I was floating along effortlessly. Well, I effortlessly floated into a divot on the side of the trail, turning my ankle and falling down like a ton of bricks. Thankfully, no major harm done; my ankle was sore through yesterday but is feeling much better today, and I’m left with only a skinned knee as a souvenir. I can’t remember the last time I had skinned knee! After that, I decided to head back home in case the injuries were worse than they seemed, and thus my 1:45 effort became an hourlong affair. So it goes.

In the meantime, I’ve started this week strong, and that’s really all I can do at this stage! Here’s what I’ve got cooking.

Monday: I started the week with a 50-minute Broken Ladders workout in the pool, which went just beautifully if I do say so myself. I think I’m finally getting back into my swim groove!

Tuesday: My dad and I met on Zwift this morning for an hourlong easy ride. We hadn’t ridden together in awhile so it was old home week as we caught up on all the latest news.

Wednesday: Tomorrow will bring with it a hour-and-five-minute fartlek workout, which I’ll probably knock out on the treadmill at some stage during the day.

Thursday: An hourlong threshold interval bike workout is on the docket for Thursday! My dad and I have plans to ride it together on Zwift.

Friday: It’s time for Broken 150s in the pool! Will I maintain my swim streak? I sure hope so!

Saturday: I’ve got a 2:15 threshold and hold workout planned for the bike, which I admit is a little bit daunting. Even more daunting is that I have an event in the morning, so will have to summon all my strength and nerve to knock this out in the afternoon – which is NOT my preferred time for such things. Will I or won’t I? Check back here next week! 🙂 Following that, a 20-minute brick run.

Sunday: I’ll finish out the week with a 1:10 long run. Here’s hoping I stay upright for a change!

Have a great week, friends!
