All right, friends: Recovery time is over. I had Big Fun on my postrace week, but now it’s time to pivot and get my mind focused on Rock n Roll Nashville!
All told, last week’s training went pretty well. I skipped a couple of workouts – Monday’s because I was still super-sore, then Friday due to allergies, and Sunday’s easy run became a brisk walk due to a walking tour I lead every month – but as I set my focus on resting up and not gaining ground, I was totally OK with that. But naptime’s over. It’s time to get to work!
Here’s what I’ve got cooking this week.
Monday: To the naked eye, it looks like I’ve totally blown the start of my week. But I made a conscious decision to miss today’s swim in order to knock out my allergies once and for all. I’ve been on the precipice of getting over them for several days now and one more good lie-in this morning did the trick, I think. This frees me up tomorrow to …
Tuesday: … tackle an hourlong threshold intervals bike workout on Zwift! Sadly, my dad is at a conference this week and is thus unable to ride tomorrow, so I’ll have to rely on the TriDot Podcast for entertainment!
Wednesday: I’ve got a 1:10 easy run on the docket for Wednesday, which I’ll probably do at the gym since I really am one of those crazies who enjoys the treadmill. That, and I’m still trying to lay low a bit from the Great Pollening – though there’s really no way to escape it during cherry blossom season!
Thursday: By Thursday, my dad will be back in service after his conference, so he and I will tackle an hourlong easy ride on Zwift.
Friday: A 50-minute Broken Ladders swim will kick off Good Friday, followed by a noontime Restore session at the Row House.
Saturday: I’ve got a 90-minute Threshold Intervals workout scheduled on the bike for Saturday! Right now I’m not sure whether I’ll tackle it indoors with the TriDot crew, or outdoors with my local bike club. Time – and weather – will tell!
Sunday: Now THAT’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout! A two-hour, 20-minute long run is on the docket and I couldn’t be more pleased. Y’all know my love of the long run by now and the fact that this beauty is waiting on Sunday makes me grin from ear to ear. I can’t wait!
Have a great week, friends! Life is short and sometimes fragile; cherish it!
