It’s Race Week, friends!

As the new week dawns (quite literally, as I type this), I am settling into one of my favorite parts of the training cycle: The taper. Oh, how I LOVE the taper! It feels like a nice little reward after months of hard work – and a little treat before race day. I’m not one of those who wants to train through the taper; no, I want to embrace every single minute of it. I’m just happy to be here!

Before we get to the week ahead, let’s take one last look at the week that was. Frankly, I think it was a great one. I got everything knocked out except for a swim (big surprise there), and finished the week feeling great. I’ve also been prioritizing recovery with lots of protein and plenty of time in the Normatec sleeves.

And now, on to this week!

Monday: Today has an hourlong threshold and hold bike workout on the docket, but to be honest my legs are feeling quite tired from the weekend of hard training, so in the spirit of taper I’m probably going to skip it and do some yoga instead.

Tuesday: A 35-minute race week run is on tap! Hopefully by then the crazy winds will have died down a bit.

Wednesday: We have a midweek hourlong easy ride on the bike planned, which I will do alone, as my dad will be traveling up my way for work (though I will get to see him!).

Thursday: An hourlong ladder in the pool, plus a 25-minute race week run, are in the cards for Thursday. To be honest this feels like a lot two days before a race, but I am trusting the process!

Friday: One final 45-minute easy ride and this training cycle is OVER.

Saturday: Race Day! As I write this, RaceX has predicted my finish time for 2:45:15, which wouldn’t be a PR but would be my best effort in years.

Sunday: Rest day!

Have a great week, friends!
