Well, here we are at the end of a training week, with a new one waiting in the wings. And I must report, while I was worried what I’d have to say for myself by the end of this week, I am thrilled with how it all turned out! So thrilled that I will gladly give myself a B+, thank you very much, and I feel that is perfectly fair.
When we last left off in our training-plan discussion, your humble TriVeggie here was on the brink of overtraining, with fatigue and bad moods and a lack of excitement about hitting the trails and overall muscle pain and malaise. I took Monday off as planned and then, lo! I began to feel better. So much better in fact that I hopped on the bike Tuesday for an easy ride and began to hit my mark again. I followed suit all the way through the week with the exception of Friday, where I was laid out by my latest covid vaccine. But for that missed swim I would have earned an A-, I think. Alas. What can you do?
It’s my fervent hope that this week too will be a success! Here’s what we’ve got on the docket:
Monday: We start the week with a Broken Ladders swim workout for 50 minutes, which I know my body will welcome after the lack of swims last week! My covid-vaccine arm is feeling great again and it’s time to get things moving. Tomorrow is shaping up to be a hectic day, so I’m going to try to get this done first thing in the morning when the pool opens.
Tuesday: I’m doing a bit of switching-up on my bike workouts this week due to scheduling, so Tuesday will become an easy ride, which is fine with me. I’m going to try to rope my dad into riding with me on Zwift.
Wednesday: Time trial on the run! This is a 5K time trial and I’m really looking forward to seeing how I’ve progressed (or not).
Thursday: I moved Saturday’s long ride to Thursday for a one-week-only occurrence due to the aforementioned scheduling, so before work I shall take to Zwift for a 2:45 race rehearsal effort followed by a 40-minute brick run. Whee! Again I will try to rope my dad into joining me for part of the ride.
Friday: CSS test swim. A nice evaluation of my current swim fitness, which given my inconsistency due to injury earlier in the season is anybody’s guess.
Saturday: Threshold intervals on the bike for an hour!
Sunday: Marathon repeats on the run. This workout could get iffy depending on how my busy weekend shapes up!
So we’ll see how it goes! I’m aiming for an A- at the very least. 🙂 Happy training, y’all!
