Now, as you may recall from yesterday’s post, I voiced some concern regarding my lack of a regular swimming pool this week, and how historically that has proven to be a stumbling block.
Well, friends, I have stumbled. Unfortunately, I did not stumble into a pool!
And to make matters worse, I did not even go to rowing today either. I was going to schedule my rowing around my swim, which didn’t transpire due to rain (our neighborhood outdoor pool closes for rain), and thus the row didn’t happen either. So I start the week with a big fat ZERO where a two should be, and I can’t say I’m thrilled. I hate starting the week feeling like I am behind the times.
It hasn’t been all bad, though. Once it became clear that today was not going to be the training day I’d hoped, I decided to use it as a recovery day instead and behaved accordingly. In fact, as I write this I am sitting on the sofa with my legs encased in my Normatec sleeves, getting a bit of a respite. It’s not the worst thing in the world, I must say.
Tomorrow, I get back on the horse: A bike ride with my dad via Zwift in the morning, and then a short easy run after work. But I remain quite flummoxed as to how I am going to get a singular swim in this week. I shall try to work it out – and will stay the course with the rest of training in the meantime. At this stage, if the YMCA pool reopens as planned on Saturday, I can pencil in Sunday for a swim and move my long run to earlier in the week. We’ll see how it goes.
In the meantime, I hope your training is going more smoothly than mine so far this week!
